Telkomsel makes internet access affordable for South Tangerang students

Cellular operator Telkomsel, a subsidiary of state-owned communications company PT Telkom Indonesia, is collaborating with the South Tangerang administration in Banten to provide affordable internet access for students to support their distance learning.

The operator provides bulk data services through its education and society packages, which range in price from Rp 40,000 (US$2.79) for the 10-gigabyte quota to Rp 100,000 for the 50 GB one.

“We are aware that education institutions have adapted to the new normal period. We hope our service in the education sector can help our customers study and do other academic activities despite being only at home,” Telkomsel consumer sales general manager for Greater Jakarta Kuntum Wahyudi said in a statement on Monday.

The company also offers internet access for online learning through the video communication platform CloudX Telkomsel.

Telkomsel says several schools and universities in the municipality have used the platform, including Pamulang University, Binus International School, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University and several state senior high schools.

The cellular operator reported a 16-percent increase in its broadband traffic in April, as people used more internet services for e-learning, online meetings and various kinds of entertainment during the COVID-19 outbreak. Telkomsel has seen the use of online meeting platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Team and CloudX surge more than 443 percent.

Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) chairman Tulus Abadi praised Telkomsel’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program as it would have a positive impact on society if companies were able to meet people’s needs. Companies are obligated to contribute to society as stipulated in the 2007 law on limited liability companies.

“However, CSR should not be combined with brand promotion,” Tulus said.

He added that the operator should provide free internet quota for its customers when it comes to CSR, rather than promoting its services that would lead to financial benefits.

“When it comes to CSR, companies can provide this in any form, as long as it is needed by the people,” he went on to say.

Traveling to the Old City of Jakarta is one of the many trips for me. If you visit the Old City, surely what you see is the Ontel (ancient bicycle), and the Fatahillah Museum or its human statue.

The thing I like the most in Kota Tua is the Batavia Stadhuis Building (City Hall of the VOC Governor's office) which is now a historical museum in Jakarta.

 

Many things to visit in Kota Tua and interesting things in Kota Tua such as Sunda Kelapa Harbor, Fatahillah Museum, Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, Puppet Museum, Bank Indonesia and Bank Mandiri Museums, and many more.

 

So, I never feel bored when going to Kota Tua, because Kota Tua always a fun and interesting place in Jakarta.

 

 

Jakarta Old Town

 

Jakarta Old Town aka Old Batavia, or locally referred to as 'Kota Tua Jakarta', was the downtown area of the capital long ago, bearing silent witness to the occupation of the Dutch East India Company. Paris St Germain's record goalscorer Edinson Cavani and captain Thiago Silva will leave the club after the conclusion of the Champions League campaign, the Ligue 1 side's sporting director has said.

Both players' contracts are due to expire in June and Leonardo told Le Journal du Dimanche that they would not be handed extensions.

Cavani, who joined PSG from Napoli in 2013, is the club's all-time top scorer with 200 goals in all competitions and has made over 300 appearances.

"It was a difficult decision to make, they are players who made their mark on the club's history," Leonardo said.

"We had to make a decision based on logic."

Both players will be involved in the Champions League campaign, which is expected to be concluded in August.

PSG qualified for the quarter-finals after eliminating Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.
