What positive things did the
reviewer say about the movie?
So far Pokemon: Detective Pikachu
is the best live action adaptation game.
This film shows something fresh from
a film based on a video game. In addition, this film makes nostalgia for
Pokémon fans. This film presents various Pokémon, ranging from Pikachu,
Squirtle, Psyduck and many more.
CGI effects that are presented in
this film are very cool. Looks real, and also spoil the eyes. Pokémon that
are presented are very adorable. At first we were quite worried about the
Pokémon created by the Live Action version. But after watching live, we
assumed that the CGI effect of the Pokémon depiction was good. The effort to
integrate into the real world did not feel stiff.
|
What negative things did the
reviewer say about the movie?
Film plot is not built solidly.
One of the two main effects is: (1) the plot is predictable, especially if
you are accustomed to watching live action films, (2) the odd intentions that
motivate the antagonist make the climax feel anti-climax.
Not all CGI effects on characters are
very good. There are some characters that are used as live action in this film
that look scary.

What
does the rating tell potential viewers about the movie?
It can be enjoyed by everyone, by all
ages, and even this film can still be understood even though lay people are
new to Pokémon

Describe the setting (time and
place):
In the Pokemon universe, Ryme
City
|
Briefly summarize the plot:
At the beginning of the film, a
mini skull with a skull (Cubone) is shown being hunted by Tim Goodman.
Tim just started working at an
insurance company. He was urged by a friend to look for Pokemon. Because it's
different from most people, he doesn't have it. Unfortunately Cubone refused
Tim's proposal.
Pokemon live in the wild. They
are ready to be subdued by humans even though they are not always matched
with the hunter.
|
Ryme City is an exception. In the
city created by billionaire Howard Clifford, humans live side by side with
Pokemon. Hunts or battles between Pokemon are declared illegal.
Tim visited Ryme City after
receiving news that his father had died. The father, Harry Goodman, is the
most famous detective in Ryme City. In his father's former apartment, Tim
meets a Pikachu. Strangely, Tim is able to understand what Pikachu is saying.
|
The situation is unique because
Pokemon has its own language. Just like animals in general. The sound they
make is only one word, which is their own type. So, when Tim can understand
Pikachu in English, other people only hear "pika pika".
Pikachu turns pokemon Harry. He
invites Tim to investigate the news of Harry's death because the rules are
simple: humans die, so the Pokemon dies. Tim initially refused. But, for
sentimental reasons and additional suspicions, he agreed.
